CORE Professional Services, PA hires quality therapists from various therapeutic backgrounds. CORE attempts to meet the needs of the clients we serve in the most effective manner possible. The following are brief summaries on the therapists we employ at CORE.
Clinical Director
Frank F. Weber, MS/LP, Clinical Director
Frank F. Weber is the Clinical Director of CORE Professional Services, PA. Frank Weber is a Licensed Psychologist who has presented on addressing sexual compulsivity at state and national conventions. He has developed treatment programs to address sexual issues with males and females, juveniles and adults, in twelve communities in Minnesota. All of the programs have remained in existence since their inception. He has been the recipient of the highest award, the President's Award, offered by the Minnesota Correctional Association. Frank F. Weber, MS/LP, is a Professor of Psychology and Sociology who teaches Developmental Psychology and Social Problems courses. Frank was presented an award for Excellence in Clinical Supervision in 2017.
Clinical Manager
Crystal Anthony, MS/LPCC, Clinical Manager
Crystal Anthony graduated from St. Cloud State University with a Master of Science Degree in Community Counseling, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Dependency Counseling. Crystal has been a Department of Corrections (DOC) approved Sex Offender Treatment Provider since December 2011. Crystal believes a collaborative approach is essential in order to assist clients in creating lasting changes while in treatment. She provides therapeutic services for couples, families and individual clients in the Sartell, MN office. Providing therapeutic services to couples is an area Crystal is passionate about as she is able to provide honest and equal support for each person in the relationship while helping create lasting change within the relationship. Crystal is a Board of Behavioral Health Approved Supervisor who provides supervision to clinicians working toward licensure. Crystal enjoys working with new clinicians as they are in the beginning of their professional development and provide a fresh outlook and an eagerness to the counseling field.
Therapists
Aiden H. Schermerhorn, BA, Sex Offender Treatment Counselor
Aiden Schermerhorn received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN in 2001. She is a Department of Corrections (DOC) approved Sex Offender Treatment Counselor. She provides individual and group counseling services in the Bemidji and Park Rapids locations. She has past experience working in county social services in adult mental health, chemical dependency, child protection and vulnerable adult protection investigations and case management.
Alex Heinen, MS, Counselor/Clinical Trainee
Alex Heinen is approved through the Department of Corrections to provide sex offender treatment. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree and in Community Psychology with a minor in Biology from St. Cloud State University in December 2018, and went on to receive her Master of Science degree in the Rehabilitation and Addictions program in 2022. Alex provides services to both juvenile and adult clients in the Brainerd and Sartell locations.
Ashley Monson, MA/Therapist
Ashley Monson is a Department of Corrections (DOC) approved Sex Offender Treatment Therapist since 2014. She graduated in 2014 from Saint Mary’s University Of Minnesota with a Masters of Arts Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, and since has obtained her license in Marriage and Family Therapy. Ashley has been providing therapeutic services at the Sartell Location since 2014. She began providing psychometric testing for special needs clients and running a sex offender treatment group for special needs clients. She currently works with special needs, adults, and juvenile clients. Ashley provides individual, couples, family, and group therapy services to assist them in addressing various disorders, including sexual disorders. In May 2022, Ashley completed an EMDRIA approved EMDR training course and is now providing EMDR therapy.
Barbara Maki, BS, Instructor, SOC
Barbara Maki received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and a Rehabilitation Services Minor in 1986 from the University of North Dakota. Barbara instructs Healthy Relationships/Sexuality Education classes for juveniles and adults. She facilitates the Parents Education/Support Group for the Juvenile Sex Offender Treatment Program.
Callie Steinberg, MS, LPCC, NCC
Callie Steinberg is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and National Certified Counselor. She is a Department of Corrections (DOC) approved Sex Offender Treatment Therapist. She received her undergraduate in Psychology from Grand Canyon State University and her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. She specializes in forensic work and completing psychosexual, parenting, anger, domestic violence, and psychological assessments. Callie provides individual, couples, family, and group therapy services to assist clients in addressing various mental health disorders, including sexual disorders. Callie provides therapeutic services at the Sartell and Mankato locations.
Dustin Monson, MS/LMFT
Dustin Monson is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. He received a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy, Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice, and a Community Psychology Minor, from Saint Cloud State University. Dustin provides therapeutic services at the CORE location in Brainerd, working with adult clients. He provides individual, couples’, family, and group therapy services.
Ellie Gohman, MS/LADC
Ellie Gohman a Department of Corrections (DOC) approved Sex Offender Treatment Counselor. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology with a minor in Women’s Studies from Saint Cloud State University in 2019, and went on to receive her Master of Science Degree in Counseling with an emphasis in Rehabilitation and Addiction Counseling in 2021. Ellie has been a Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselor since March 2022. She provides therapeutic services at the Sartell and Willmar locations, working with both juvenile and adult clients. Ellie provides individual, family, and group therapy services.
Glynis Thiesse, MS/LP
Glynis Thiesse is a Licensed Psychologist who provides individual therapy for adults with a variety of symptoms. Glynis has assisted individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, behavioral problems, and sexual behaviors. Glynis provides therapy and assessments (IQ, adaptive behavior) to individuals who have intellectual disabilities.
Grace Ball, BAS, Counselor/Clinical Trainee
Grace Ball is a Department of Corrections (DOC) approved Sex Offender Treatment Counselor. She received her Bachelor of Applied Science in Psychology with a minor in Deaf Studies from the University of Minnesota-Duluth. She is currently earning her Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology at the University of North Dakota. She currently provides group and individual services in our Sartell office, completing psychosexual, parenting, anger, domestic violence and psychological assessments in our Sartell and Mankato offices, as well as completing cognitive assessments in our Brainerd office.
Jennifer Foede, MS/LPCC
Jennifer Foede is a Department of Corrections (DOC) Sex Offender Treatment counselor. She received her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education with a minor in psychology from the University of Minnesota at Duluth and her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. Jennifer facilitates the East Central program, providing group sex offender treatment services in the Mora and North Branch areas. She also works in the Sartell office facilitating the Sexual Obsessions group and providing therapeutic services for adults, juveniles, and children, and completes Comprehensive Multi-disciplinary Evaluations (CMDES) and autism assessments. Jennifer specializes in anxiety, mood and personality disorders, grief counseling, and pregnancy and infant loss counseling using Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy.

John M. Schmitt, MS/LPCC
John M. Schmitt graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 2018 with a Master of Science Degree in Mental Health Counseling. John has been a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) since 2021. John provides individual, couples, family, and group counseling services in Mankato. He also specializes in completing psychosexual, domestic violence, and psychological assessments. John is the Internship Coordinator and On-Site Consultant for the Mankato office.
Katie Kissner, MS/LPCC
Katie Kissner is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. She received her Master of Science Degree in Community Counseling from Saint Cloud State University in 2014. She has completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from the College of Saint Benedict in 2011. Katie is a Department of Corrections (DOC) approved Sex Offender Treatment Therapist. She specializes in forensic work and completing psychosexual, parenting, anger, domestic violence and psychological assessments. She also provides individual, couple and group therapy services. She has experience working in adolescent residential treatment and has worked as a Corrections Agent supervising sex offender and supervised release clients. Katie provides services in the Sartell location. Katie has also been a Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy approved supervisor since 2019.

Makayla Christen, MS, Counselor/Clinical Trainee
Makayla Christen is a Department of Corrections (DOC) approved Sex Offender Counselor (SOC). She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology, including a minor in Substance Abuse and Behavioral Addictions, from Bemidji State University in 2021. She completed her Master of Science Degree in Rehabilitation and Addiction Counseling at Saint Cloud State University in 2023. She currently provides group and individual services in our Sartell and Grand Rapids locations, working with both juvenile and adult clients.
Mikayla Dulz, BA, Counselor/Clinical Trainee
Mikayla Dulz graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology with a minor in Family Studies from The University of St. Thomas in 2021. She is a Department of Corrections (DOC) approved Sex Offender Treatment Counselor. Mikayla provides individual and group sex offender treatment programming at the Mankato location.
Natasha Lundgren-Trobec, MA, SOC, Counselor/Clinical Trainee
Natasha Lundgren-Trobec is a Department of Corrections (DOC) approved Sex Offender Treatment Counselor. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Community Psychology with a minor in Psychology from Saint Cloud State University in 2018. She graduated from the University of North Dakota with her Master of Arts Degree in Counseling with an emphasis in Community Mental Health in 2020. She provides therapeutic services at the Sartell, Alexandria, and Brainerd locations, working with both juvenile and adult clients. Natasha provides individual, couples, family, and group therapy services. She also completes psychosexual, anger, parenting, domestic violence, and psychological assessments for adults and adolescents.
Paige Steinberg, MS, Counselor/Clinical Trainee
Paige Steinberg is a Department of Corrections (DOC) approved Sex Offender Treatment Counselor. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from the College of Saint Benedict in 2019. She received her Master of Science Degree in Rehabilitation and Addiction Counseling in 2022 from Saint Cloud State University. Paige currently provides individual, couples, and group sex offender treatment services to adult clients in the Shakopee and Chaska program. Paige also completes psychosexual, anger, parenting, domestic violence, and psychological assessments for adults and adolescents.
Samantha Benjamin, MS/Counselor
Samantha Benjamin holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Community Psychology and a Master of Science in Community Counseling. She began her career in psychoeducation, psychometry, and facilitating individual, couple's, and group therapy. She has worked in collaborative and administrative roles at the clinic, as well. Samantha specializes in completing a variety of psychological assessment formats (psychological, psychosexual, anger, domestic abuse) under the supervision of Clinical Director Frank Weber, MS/LP, and has a particular interest in accurate risk assessments.
Shannon Andrea, MS/LPCC
Shannon Andrea is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. She is also an approved clinical supervisor through the Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy. Shannon facilitates group sex offender treatment for adults. She also provides individual and couples therapy. She has experience working with juvenile clients experiencing mental health and behavioral struggles, as well as sexual issues, both in outpatient and inpatient settings. Shannon completes psychosexual, anger, parenting, and psychological assessments. She provides services in Mankato, Marshall, Worthington, and Windom locations. Shannon has been trained to complete discernment therapy.
Shelby Kirkwold, MS/LPCC/LADC/Internship Coordinator
Shelby Kirkwold is a Department of Corrections approved Sex Offender Treatment Counselor. Shelby has been a Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselor since 2016 and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor since 2020. Shelby graduated with her Master of Science Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Shelby provides individual and group therapy services in Willmar and Sartell. Shelby completes psychosexual, anger, parenting, domestic violence, and psychological assessments for adults and adolescents along with parent/child interaction observations. Additionally, she is the Internship Administrator for the Sartell and Brainerd locations as well as traveling programs in those areas. An area that Shelby is interested in, is working with clients who have substance use concerns and trauma.
Tristen Roerick, BS, LAMFT
Tristen Roerick is a Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. He received his Masters of Science Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Saint Cloud State University. He is currently in the process of achieving full licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. He currently provides group and individual services in Sartell, Minnesota. He further provides grant services in Staples and Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. He has specialization in working with young individuals (8+), severe persistent mental illnesses, and trauma. He has emphasis on families being an integral part of the therapeutic process.
