Internship Overview
At the beginning of an internship, individuals will be “assigned” to a supervisor, who will oversee their daily work. Interns will spend time, initially, observing this therapist’s work. Eventually, they will be asked to begin meeting with some clients on an individual basis, often to provide assistance with group assignments from the From Now On... workbook. Interns may also be asked to facilitate couple’s or family therapy sessions. They will primarily meet with clients on their supervising therapist’s caseload, although other therapists in the clinic may refer clients to them for assistance, as well. Interns may be asked to assist therapists with other tasks or perhaps teach the Healthy Relationships / Sexuality Education curriculum when needed. Opportunities to provide therapeutic services in CORE’s various locations will also be processed. Interns will have the opportunity to sit in on group therapy sessions and both observe and learn more about psychological assessments. CORE provides many of the forensic assessments for court cases in the community and has a reputation for outstanding assessment work. We pride ourselves in offering effective services to individuals throughout Minnesota. CORE works well with a variety of college campuses and will assist interns in meeting the necessary requirements for their educational development.
